Clash of Tanks isn't a driving game like most of the tank line-up on this site — it's a base-defense strategy game played from above. You drag tank cards out of your hand and drop them onto a two-lane battlefield; from there they roll toward the enemy side on their own, and your job is picking which tank to send, when, and to which lane.

A match plays out like a tug of war. Push down one lane and the opponent has to answer or lose ground; leave a lane empty too long and their push reaches your headquarters instead. Turrets along the way chip away at anything that gets through alone, so a single tank rarely makes it all the way to the enemy base on its own — it needs backup behind it.

How to play

Drag a tank card from your hand onto your side of a lane to deploy it. It advances by itself, so there is no aiming or driving to learn — the decisions are all about timing and which lane to load up. Destroy the enemy headquarters before they destroy yours and you win the round. New players start against the built-in bot, which is the right place to learn how fast tanks close the distance and how much a turret actually slows them down, before taking a match online against a real opponent.

Tips

• Don't commit everything to one lane — it really is a two-lane duel, and an empty second lane is an open invitation for the opponent.
• Send a second tank behind the first instead of one at a time; turrets punish a lone push much more than a supported one.
• Play a few rounds against the bot before going online — it costs nothing and shows you exactly how much ground a push covers before it reaches a turret.
• Upgrading your army between matches is part of the strategy, not an afterthought, since it is what turns a losing lane into a winning one.
